Spays and Neuters
Spays
What is it?
Spaying (ovariohysterectomy) is defined as sterilisation of a female and involves the removal of her uterus and ovaries.
Pros
Advantages to having your animal spayed:
- Reduces her chances of developing breast cancer, uterine cancer and ovarian cancer.
- Lessons the likelihood of her developing uterine infections (pyometra).
- You as the owner won’t have to deal with unwanted litters. In order to prevent overpopulation, tragically thousands of animals are put to sleep every year due to accidental breeding.
- A spayed female will stop attracting unwanted males, and decrease her desire to roam.

- Male dogs that are neutered are preserved from conditions like testicular neoplasia as well as prostatitis caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
